What does BIPOCVampDay mean to you?
I’ve had an affinity for vampires since I was a child but was always dismayed at the lack of representation for vampires of colour. Vampires to me represent total liberation from the oppressions of human life, and as a queer Black person, vampire literature, movies and mythology in general provided the escape and sense of empowerment I so badly needed. BIPOC vampires just make sense! BIPOC Vamp Day has brought us all together to celebrate this common experience and love for the dark side like one big international coven, it’s what I’ve been longing for since childhood and I’m so grateful for it
