For those new to 1920s slang: sheik = a handsome, desirable man or a man with sex appeal. The term was popularized by the 1921 film, The Sheik, starring Rudolph Valentino. It's unlikely Sidney saw that one as they're not as into movies, but Ellis would have caught a screening.

I should make a slang/terminology glossary in the future - could be handy.
